Our Internet-Project

Who are we ? What are we doing?

We are the Englisch Leistungskurs of Lessing-Gymnasium in Berlin. Early nextYear ,we are going to sit through our finals which are called "Abitur" in German. We are 9 girls , 7 boys and one teacher , Mr. Constabel.

Mr. Constabel is a great multimedia-fan so this term - it is the 3rd term - we did our 2nd Internet-Project.

Our theme of this term is British and American literature. We read "The Ballad of the Sad Cafe" by Carson McCullers, "Moon Palace" by Paul Auster and we` re going to read "Macbeth " by William Shakespeare. We saw the movies "Smoke" , which was based on another novel by Paul Auster and the movie version of Carson McCullers’ " Ballad of the Sad Cafe". The main topics we discussed in class were connected to love and the role of the individual in society.

Furthermore, we went to see the dramatic adaptation of "A Brave New World" by Aldous Huxley , a really exciting excursion.

 

Something about our "Internet-Project" !

The theme of our 2nd Internet-Project is Paul Auster’s "Moon Palace". We split our Leistungskurs in different workgroups.

Every workgroup got its own special theme.

  1. Characterization of the main persons by Dilek , Fulya and Marijana
  2. Summary of the novel by Gökhan , Daniel and HaJü
  3. Biography of Paul Auster by Matthias and Anne
  4. The main locations in which the novel takes place by David, Judith and Jan-Paul
  5. Literary references which are to be found in the novel by Lena, Vanessa , Dilek K. and Sawsan
  6. Last but not least Web-Design and ‘arrangement’ by Ralf and Arvid

So in the beginning every group started to find information in the WWW about its special theme. With this information we started to create our own webpages. Our aim is to create a CD-ROM and to upload our results into the internet.

The theme of our 1st internet-project was the "State of a Union" on which we worked for at least four months. We wrote about topics like the "Watergate-affair" or the hippie movement in the sixties. We created websites about the war in Vietnam and some other subjects but this time we specialized on just one book.
