Lennie's living and
working conditions get worse. The reason why this happens is that he
has to run away, because he has killed Curley's wife. He can't sleep in
the bunk house anymore, instead he has to
flee from the farm where he works, because Curley wants to take revenge
for her death and lynch him. Without George, he won't be able to find a
new job.
